Happy New Year!

And so, as the song goes, “Another year older and deeper in debt.”

Less than a New Years resolution but more to keep my writing (and reading) chops up I have decided to make this a daily update. To this date I have not really been doing a “Blog” in the traditional sense, mostly just reposting old “But then again..” columns and material from the defunct radio show “Rising at Ten.” From this post onward what you will be getting here will be the aforementioned rehash, some new pieces from the weekly column in the “Weekender” and some other things.

The other things will include some fiction and non-fiction I have been working on, some links to things I find interesting/amusing/horrifying etc.

Yesterday I posted a short piece of fiction and got a panicky phone call from my daughter wanting to know if I was all right.  I guess in a way that was a compliment on the writing although I felt bad about the panic.

I have made this choice because I feel like I am wasting time. It should be noted that of all the resources that we have in life, time is the one that we can not afford to squander. I intend to make the best of what I have left.

To that thought here is something I found inspiring:

Many thanks are due to Jim Rising, my oldest son who suggested that I branch out a little on these pages. Don’t blame him. He meant no harm.
